Addicted to Let It Ride Poker
My cousin has been addicted to Let It Ride poker for quite some time now, and I am getting a bit worried about him. Although he has consistently broken even, or made money on his Let It Ride, it still concerns me. The thing that every gambler can forget is that it is only a matter of time. Your luck can not last forever, and unless you really have the skills and the capital to insure that you come out on top in the end, you had best only dabble in this game, lest you lose everything that you have. But now that they have made online poker available everywhere, it has just simply become much too easy for him to play Let It Ride, and so he spends hours and hours in front of his computer, just clicking away.
I like free online poker, but have never gotten in to Let It Ride, or any of the more serious competitions. The way that the online poker tournaments work is easy. They have free contests in different games of poker, be it Let It Ride, or Texas Hold 'Em, or what have you. You can enter the free contests for a chance to win a little bit of money – say a couple hundred dollars – and nothing to lose. It is so much fun, however, that a lot of people get more serious about it after playing a few free ones. They will come in to more and more tables, and start having to pay to play. My cousin started by winning a free Let It Ride contest, but now he plays higher stakes. We are talking about ten dollars a hand, minimum, and because Let It Ride is always played against the casino, it means that you are always at a disadvantage. He must be pretty darned good to be doing so well.
Aside from Let It Ride, his favorite game is Anaconda, but of course you can not play that online. Anaconda is a pretty wacky kind of poker, where you are dealt seven cards. You discard two cards to the left and three to the right, and then you try to make your very best hand of five cards. The highest and lowest hand split the pot, so it is important to know what the people next to you are like – if they are going to go for highest or lowest.
